A UNIQUE DISCOVERY

A trio of high-proof legends, each Caroni HTR release reflects the distillery's bold, unmistakable character shaped by tropical aging in Trinidad and slow continental maturation.

Caroni HTR 1997 Cask #25163 was aged 13 years in Trinidad and 15 in the UK, bottled at 28 years and 60.5% ABV. It delivers oily oak, tar, olives, and sticky dates, with a peppery tobacco finish.

The 1998 Cask #251, aged 10 years in Trinidad and 17 years continentally, is 27 years old and 62.2% ABV, offering overripe fruits, diesel, vanilla, and a dry, woody finish.

The 1999 Cask #25204, aged 11+15 years and bottled at 62.7% ABV, bursts with tar, menthol, rubber, and finishes with sherry, ginger, and peppery spice.

Caroni HTR (Heavy Type Rum) is made from molasses using a single column still and earns its "Heavy" title from high congener levels-flavour-rich fermentation byproducts. Unlike many distillers, Caroni avoided new wood barrels, resulting in bold, unconventional notes like diesel, tar, burn rubber, and olive brine.

DISTILLERY

Established in 1923, the Caroni Rum Distillery in Trinidad was built on the Caroni sugar factory grounds, using molasses byproduct to produce bold, smoky, and oily rums. Revered locally and internationally, Caroni gained fame for its blending potential and aging quality. However, the decline of Trinidad’s sugar industry led to its closure in 2003. Afterward, the distillery achieved legendary status, with independent bottlers acquiring remaining stocks. These aged rums became rare, prized collector’s items. Today, though no longer operating, Caroni remains one of the most iconic names in rum. Its legacy lives on through these sought-after releases, revered by enthusiasts worldwide
