A UNIQUE DISCOVERY

This was the very first cask ever bottled by House of Rum, making it both our most valuable and most symbolic release. To mark the occasion, it’s presented in a bespoke gift box, complete with a unique decanter and two hand-made Cumbria Crystal glasses.

Cask No. 43, Rotation 17/V376, yielded only 140 bottles, each one a rare treasure. The rum itself is exceptionally smooth, layered with woody depth and a sweet, chocolate-rich finish.

Its journey spans continents and climates. Distilled in Venezuela in 2005 at the CADC distillery, it spent eight years in French Oak casks once used for brandy. From there, it moved to the Dominican Republic for a further four years of tropical maturation.

In 2017, the cask crossed the Atlantic to Europe. It underwent five more years of cool continental ageing, shaping its final character before being bottled in 2021.

Palate - remarkably smooth for its strength, with woody notes contributing to both sweetness and a certain tarnic quality, which counterbalance each other. Tropical fruits and caramel syrup flavours lead to a firm dark chocolate note on the finish.
