A UNIQUE DISCOVERY

The Panama 2004 is an exceptional spirit from the Varela Hermanos Distillery. This rum represents Panama's storied rum-making tradition. It’s distilled from molasses, a key ingredient since the 17th century, and produced in a column still.

It reflects the enduring heritage of Panamanian rum production. The methods date back to the introduction of sugarcane by the Spanish in the 16th century.

This cask matured for 12 years in Panama’s tropical climate in American Oak ex-Bourbon casks, followed by 7 years of continental ageing in the UK in an American Oak cask.

Bottled in 2023 with an ABV of 57.5%, this single cask release is entirely pure, containing no added flavours, colouring agents or sugars.

This rum captures the essence of Panama's history, craftsmanship and dedication to excellence. It offers a unique and authentic rum experience. Limited to just 255 bottles.

DISTILLERY

Varela Hermanos S.A. has a rich history dating back to 1908 when Don José Varela Blanco founded the Ingenio San Isidro, the first sugar mill in Panama's newly formed Republic.

Located in Pesé, the distillery began producing rum from molasses in 1936 at the urging of Don José's three eldest sons.

Today, the third generation oversees the estate and distillery, which remains one of the few rum producers to use molasses from their own cane.

Varela Hermanos rums are by far the most popular in Panama.
