HOUSE OF RUM DOMINICAN 2000 CHAMPION

House of Rum Single Cask Dominican Republic 2000 has been named CHAMPION at The Rum & Cachaça Masters Competition 2025!

Award winning Dominican 2000

What an incredible achievement for our brand—Best Rum in the entire competition! Alongside this prestigious title, we also earned the ultimate honour of Taste Master and two additional Master medals in the Ultra-Premium segment. Our Trinidad 2013 took home the Master medal in the Dark Rum – Overproof category, while our Panama 2004 was awarded a Master medal in the Dark Rum Aged Over 13 Years category.

I’m so proud of the amazing team that made all of this possible in just a few short years, and there’s so much more to come in 2025!

Here’s what the judges had to say:

The House of Rum Single Cask Dominican Republic 2000 was praised for its “nice depth of character with fruitiness, caramel, woody spice, and tropical fruits.”

Judge Dan Greifer, Bar Manager at Black Parrot, described it as a great choice for rum enthusiasts, especially those familiar with the category. “What a great selection,” he said. Anne Jones, owner of Limestone & Jones and chair of the judging panel, also expressed her admiration: “This category really showcases the modern face of premium rums while honouring the traditional styles with character and flair.”

The House of Rum’s success didn’t stop there. In the Aged Over 13 Years category, our Single Cask Panama 2004 earned the highest praise. Its “vibrant colour, complex nose of oak, dried fruit, and more, leading to deep, spicy, ripe fruit” flavours left a lasting impression on the judges.

In the Dark Rum – Overproof category, only two rums received Master medals, and one was awarded to our Trinidad 2012. The judges enjoyed its strong “barrel and fermentation influences—hints of funk, with a nice amount of peppery heat from the barrel and subtle vanilla undertones. Very nice,” according to Greifer.

The final challenge for the judges was selecting the Rum & Cachaça Taste Master 2025 from the Master medallists. After tasting a wide range of rums, they confidently crowned our House of Rum Single Cask Dominican Republic 2000 as this year’s champion.

This year’s competition shows how far the rum industry has come, shedding its old image of overly sweet, caramelized spirits. The rums judged this year reflect the industry’s commitment to authentic, natural flavours, and the growing alignment between producers worldwide who are dedicated to bringing high-quality rums to curious consumers. While there may be challenges ahead for the global spirits trade in 2025, if the quality of rum continues to rise, the category’s popularity will surely continue to soar.
